MRNA Vaccines for Cattle?

Hey There!

Over the last 3 weeks we have received so many emails from concerned customers about cattle and other food animals being vaccinated with mRNA vaccines.

We are going "On the Record" to let everyone know we do not and will not be using mRNA vaccines.

Now just to be completely transparent mRNA vaccines are not on the market right now anyway for cattle (in the United States), but they are anticipated to be released by the end of the year.

"And Why Not You Might Ask?"

Well it's really simple, our cows are in a constant state of "quarantine". They live in the herd they were born into and no newcomers are added.

No one is heading out to work or school or the MOO-vies (sorry couldn't help myself) so infectious disease is not an issue at Gold Nugget Farm.

The herd is happy, healthy, and thriving just the way they are so we won't be adding anything new!

Our Birth to Butcher Promise is that we are with our cattle every step of the way.

And because you are now friends with a farmer you get to know exactly what goes into your beef too!

Egg-Napper Caught!

Our fur child, Rosie, just turned 9 years old!

She has been with me through thick and thin for almost a decade now and I have been increasingly worried about the extra pounds she has been carrying around lately.

Well, I finally figured it out. It's not just old age that has been weighing her down! It's the dozen or so eggs she has been hunting every day!

Rosie is almost exclusively hanging out with the family inside the house, riding in the farm truck, or lounging in her bed on the porch. BUT, I caught her exploring the pasture where the guinea hens scavenge bugs and discovered a little hidey hole with her egg stash!

Soo... Rosie is going on a diet. Send the prayers and good vibes her way as she adjusts to an egg restricted existence. :)

Here's Pooh and Rosie hard at work as always!

Recipe

I am not a morning person, but these breakfast muffins sure get me in gear!

Adapted from The Whole Cook Recipe

Here's What You Need for a 12 Muffin Tin -

Beef Mixture-
1/2 Pound Ground Beef
1/2 medium white or yellow onion
1 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Egg Mixture -
Oil/tallow for greasing pan
12 eggs
1/2 cup salsa (We love to make the Pioneer Woman salsa)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Extras -
Sometimes we throw in chopped bell pepper or spinach. Just go where your inner chef leads you :)

Here's How to Make it -

1. Preheat oven to 350 F
2. Brown ground beef and diced onion
3. Add in minced garlic, chili powder, salt & pepper. Sauté until garlic is golden brown.
4. Grease your muffin tin generously!
5. Add the beef mixture evenly across the pan.
6. Whisk eggs, salsa, salt, and pepper in a bowl and then add to muffin tin.
7. Add cheese on top of each muffin.
8. Bake for about 20 minutes and then let cool.

Here's the best part!

Once the muffins are cooled you can put any extra in the freezer. These muffins reheat very well and are super convenient for busy mornings!
